Workshop: Systemic Thinking for a Changing World

In the 1st semester, there will be a 3-day kick-off workshop in Europe, where you will have the chance to meet your fellow students. We believe that building a strong network with your peers is essential for successfully navigating the upcoming online modules. The unique aspect: the workshop will be held in a hybrid format. If you are unable to travel and attend in person, you can still participate live and online.

In a world of constant change, individuals, organisations and societies typically try to adapt to emerging situations, or they even attempt to shape them in the first place. The guiding question, “How does the current socio-economic system reveal itself to us?”, is explored through engaging group exercises, challenging and unexpected formats, as well as immersive excursions.

This in-person workshop encourages participants to establish new perspectives on our socio-economic system, drawing from historical, psychological, and artistic viewpoints that counterbalance or complement established positions informed mostly by rationality and competitiveness. By introducing fresh perceptions, this initial workshop – conducted in the first semester – helps students contextualise the remainder of the study programme.

Key outcomes include:

  • Developing an understanding of systemic thinking and the ability to view the world through multiple lenses in a multi-polar context.
  • Enhancing empathic competencies to foster both individual and organizational learning.
  • Identifying global development parameters and applying systemic thinking to these issues.
  • Building a foundation for personal learning objectives and the ability to review them in relation to broader course themes.
