Fernstudium Master Lighting Design PLDC AwardThe concept for the international extra-occupational long-distance Master’s course “Professional Studies Lighting Design” at Wismar University’s centre for long-distance studies WINGS has been given the PLDR Award for Education at the PLDC’s PLDR (Professional Lighting Design Recognition) award ceremony in front of an audience of about 600 in Kopenhagen. “Receiving the PLDR Award for Education for our long-distance Master’s course is a great honour,” says Professor Thomas Röhmhild, head of the programme, who accepted the prize at the award ceremony. “It confirms that, based on our international concept, we educate high-profile lighting designers who are recognised and in demand across the world.” The international jury, a round of renowned lighting design experts and architects, chooses the prize-winners. It honours individuals, organisations and research institutes who support the development of professional lighting design in their work. “Parsons The New School for Design” and “The Nuckolls Fund” – both from New York/USA – were also shortlisted in the PLDR Award for Education category. The prize is awarded in eight categories in total: Award at Large, Lifetime Award, Award for the Best Partner in Industry, Award for the Best Project, Award for the Best Daylight Project, Award for Research, Award for the Best Newcomer and Award for Education. The PLDC takes place every two years. International lighting designers and architects meet at this conference to exchange views on current and future developments in lighting design.
